A few hours ago marked the beginning of NAVARATRI (Nine Nights), a celebration of the divine feminine also known as Shakti Devi, the Primal Energy of creation. It is a nine-night long festival honoring the victory of good over evil through the worship of several aspects of the Goddess, called the Navadurga, or nine Durgas. You can read the story of these nine manifestations of Shakti Devi here.
During yesterday evening's Satsang & Kirtan, we invoked the power of the divine energy by chanting:
Om Dum Durgayei Namaha
Om : the cosmic sound vibration of creation
Dum : the beeja (seed sound) of Durga energy
Durgayei : a name of Durga
Namaha : I offer my salutations
"Salutations to Durga, the protective feminine energy who defends from all negative influences"
You can watch the video of the Kirtan here.
